  • Has anyone else encountered this problem? Sometimes there is no Warning message at all. It does not seem to make any difference if I power up the Thinkpad before or after inserting the wlan card in the PCMCIA slot.

The problem is puzzling because it is intermittent. I am using a Linksys BEF11SW4 access point, running firmware 1.39.2.Ĭlient Manger ver 2.58, Driver NDIS 5 Miniport ver 7.42, Card ver 4.02, Primary Functions firmware 4.04, and Station functions firmware 8.10 When I double click on this icon, it opens the Orinoco Client Manager, and there is a warning message "modem connect/disconnect not available". Hovering the mouse over that icon shows "Radio Connection: Good + Warning". Intermittently, however, the green bars alternate with a a flashing yellow triangle that has an exclamation point in the center. Most of the time, it just glows green to show signal strength. The Orinoco Client Manager puts a "bar chart" icon in the taskbar at the lower right hand corner of my screen. My Lucent Orinoco Gold card generally works OK in two different thinkpads running Win 98, except for an intermittent error message.
